My new pc (well, it was new in May 2003)
I wanted to be able to do some video editing as well, so I went for enough storage and power, but within my budget:
- Asus P4PE motherboard with SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio
- Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.66GHz
- 512 MB RAM
- 2 x Maxtor 6Y080P0
- NVidia GeForce4 MX 440
- LG DVD-ROM GDR8161B
- NEC DVD±RW ND-1300A
- floppy drive
- Intel® 537 Data Fax Voice V.92 Modem
- Trust 240th Direct Webscan Gold WIA Scanner
- Trust 120 Spacecam
- Logitech Easy Internet Keyboard
- Logitech Optical Wheel Mouse
I was told I never would get 160GB used up if it weren't for video, but I'm not so sure of that. I am dividing the disks into 10GB partitions at a time, and some of them are already half full. Throwing out stuff occasionally would help of course, I might do that later in life. Or I'll just wait till the whole lot crashes some time, saves me the work of sorting out what I want to keep and what not ;-)
Of course I needed a monitor as well, and having enough of designing a 1024x768 site on a 800x600 monitor, I decided to go as large as I could afford, and bought a 19inch Novita flatscreen, with which I'm still very happy. It has excellent colours. The maximum resolution is 1600x1200, but I usually have it set to 1280x1024, which is the most pleasant for my eyes.
